Changes to the Town of Paxton Bylaws since the May 2019 revision

- Gold Star Family Property Tax Abatement , MGL C. 59, § 5, Clause 22F
At the Annual Town Meeting held on August 30, 2020 the Town voted to accept the provisions of Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 22F, of the Massachusetts General Laws, to provide that the exemptions available to soldiers, sailors, and family members pursuant to Clauses 22, 22A, 22B, 22C, 22D, 22E and 22F, of said Chapter 59, Section 5, may be granted to otherwise eligible persons who have resided in the Commonwealth for 1 year prior to the date of filing for said exemption. - Gold Star Family Property Tax Abatement, MGL, C. 59, § 5, Clause 22H
At the Annual Town Meeting held on June 21, 2021 the Town voted to accept the provisions of Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 22H of the Massachusetts General Laws, to provide an exemption from taxes for the real property of the surviving parents or guardian of soldiers and sailors who suffered a fatal injury or who are missing in action with a presumptive finding of death as a result of active-duty service as members of the armed forces of the United States. - Certified Massachusetts Municipal Clerk, MGL, C. 41, § 19K
At the Annual Town Meeting held on May 2, 2022 the Town voted vote to accept the provisions of Chapter 41, Section 19K of the Massachusetts General Laws providing for additional compensation for the Town Clerk upon obtaining certification by the Massachusetts Town Clerks’ Association as a certified Massachusetts municipal clerk.(Article 14)
- Vehicles parked in violation of law, Removal, MGL C. 40, § 22D
At the Annual Town Meeting held on June 5, 2023 the Town voted to accept the provisions of Chapter 40, Section 22D of the Massachusetts General Laws. (Article 11)
At the Annual Town Meeting held on June 5, 2023 the Town revised the Alcoholic Beverages Bylaw, Winter Parking Ban Bylaw and the Finance Committee Bylaw. These changes were approved by the Attorney General's office on 9/5/2023 (Case #11061) and went into effect on 9/5/2023. To view the bylaws click here.
