Upcoming Town Meeting Information

The Town of Paxton will hold a Special Town Meeting on Monday, November 20th at 7pm at the Paxton Center School.  Please contact the Town Administrator's Office if you have any questions, hmunroe@townofpaxton.net or (508) 779-7347.

Here is some information that may help answer some questions.

1. Citizen's Guide to Town Meeting. The State of Massachusetts has a published guide on what to know about and how to participate in Town Meetings.  The guide can be reviewed here.  

2. Town Meeting Warrant.  The Town Meeting Warrant is the "agenda" for the Town Meeting, providing Town Meeting Members (registered Paxton voters) with the information that need to be informed of what will be on the docket for the Town Meeting, to be discussed and voted on.  Town Meeting warrants are approved, signed, and posted in various locations in Town, at Town Hall, and on the website at least 7 days in advance of the Annual Town Meeting and at least 14 days in advance of a Special Town Meeting.  The warrant for the upcoming Town Meeting can be found here.

3. Explanation Sheet.  For most Town Meetings, the Town Administrator will prepare an explanation sheet to explain what each of the articles would do in the event of approval at Town Meeting.  The current explanation sheet can be found here.  

4. Additional Reference Materials.  From time to time, the Town may provide additional reference materials beyond what is attached to the Town Meeting Warrant or the Explanation Sheet in order to provide a better understanding of an article.
